The vibrancy and effectiveness of the Rio Grande Chapter is a direct result of the work of many active volunteers throughout New Mexico & West Texas. As we continue to expand the scope of our efforts we identify areas in which we could be even more effective with more active volunteers. Some of these are listed below.

Treasurer for Rio Grande Chapter: Bookkeeping experience valuable; working experience
with Quick Books system useful. Position opens Jan. 1.

Hike Book Distributor

Hike Book Distributor – to assist Chuck Deucy in distributing our Day Hikes book to local bookstores, working on invoices, and following up on receipts. Chuck is working 2 jobs now and needs help to fulfill book orders & track payments in a timely and accurate fashion.


Volunteers needed to monitor Gunnison's Prairie Dogs near Santa Fe

If you have an interest in working with wildlife and enjoy watching and recording their activity, come join the Prairie Dog team near Santa Fe each week to check burrows, restore vegetation and monitor population.

Santa Fe River Cleanup Leaders needed.

Looking for a person to join our leader rotation for the Santa Fe River cleanup. River cleanups are held on the third Saturday of the month from April- November. The SC section is in town from Defouri to St. Francis Bridge. Work is done from 9a-11a only and there are NO MEETINGS. Contact Kathleen Davis 795-3286 or email kdav40@gmail.com


Phone Bank Team

Members from around the state to make telephone calls to other members concerning urgent legislation that needs personal calls. Will only be used 4-5 times a year. Will set up a phone bank where feasible, could be done from home. Contact Pat Carlton carlton505@comcast.net, 505-988-1596.


Northern New Mexico Group - Volunteer Recognition Event

Approximately 50 people attended the Northern New Mexico Group Volunteer Recognition event on May 7.

The event started with a moment of silence for Gail Ryba. Several spoke about her contributions and her leadership in the environmental community.
