Clean up Rio Grande Corrider at Buckman
1:30-5:00 pm, Sunday, September 12
Rio Grande River at Buckman
Help honor and protect the beauty of the Rio Grande by participating in a clean-up day at the Rio Grande Corridor at Buckman! The Buckman Road area is a valuable resource to the citizens of the city and county of Santa Fe. It is uniquely important as one of the few public access points to the Rio Grande, which is in turn the living connection with the natural, and cultural history of New Mexico.
On Sunday, September 12 from 1:30-5:00, come help participate in a clean-up! All that is needed is an RSVP, comfortable clothes, and some work gloves. All other supplies will be provided as well as snacks and drinks to get us through the afternoon. The main activity will be picking up trash from along the riverbank which will be hauled away at the end of the day.
The Buckman area is about 12 miles northwest of Santa Fe on BLM land off of Camino de la Tierra which is off of 599. There will be a clean-up sign in the parking lot and a meeting place.
The Forest Service will be assisting with the effort therefore RSVPs are relatively important for safety forms and supplies. For more information, directions, or to sign up, please call Megan Perkins at 505-982-9311 or email at meganmarieperkins@yahoo.com. All are welcome!
